Meet Jeff & Megan

Megan Spires 4Hi, I am Megan. I have to be honest and tell you, I’ve agonized a bit over this page. It’s not easy to describe yourself from your own point of view. My point of view of myself is often flawed and on some days I struggle to see me as I get lost in the details so easily. But I’m glad that my Heavenly Father knows me and knows me best. He sees all of me…the good, the bad and the ugly. I don’t love that word…ugly. But, it speaks to my weaknesses (we all have them) and why I need a Savior (we all need One).

So nice to meet you here. I’ve been married to my amazing husband for almost 18 years. We have 4 young sons who definitely keep us busy and going! Our oldest is 9, next one is 7, then 5 and our youngest is 3. We’ve been homeschooling them since day one and love them all to pieces.

On Motherhood

Here on this blog, you’ll find me writing about all kinds of things. But my heart behind Devotional Motherhood is to write about and share the real kind of life-living that happens in the everyday moments of motherhood. Our need for Jesus runs deep. Yours and mine. And our ministry to our families is one God has placed on our lives as His high calling.

On Growing Godly Kids

When it comes to raising our children, leading them straight into the arms of Jesus is our mission. Our deepest desire is to make our Savior famous to our sons so that they will know without a doubt that asking Him to live in our hearts forever makes us different. Not perfect, but set apart for God and from this world. How do we do this? With lots of grace from God as He lovingly redeems it all. We’re learning day by day that it’s by intentionally living our faith out loud in front of our kids in a thousand different ways and praying every single day.
We want our sons to KNOW without a doubt that asking Jesus to live in their hearts forever makes us different, not perfect, but set apart for God and from this world.

On My Heart

My first ministry and calling will always be at home with my family. I want more than anything to be worthy of that calling…to be present in it, to find joy in the every day even when it looks like a mess (and I’m not just talking about all of my laundry piles).

In my own desperate need to not feel so alone in my mom-role, as mothers often do feel when they’re neck deep in mothering…I searched for other moms online. I needed a tribe, a community of women willing to be honest about their own real life-living. I needed to breathe in stories of Hope and redemption. Real stories from women not hiding behind perfection but willing to be honest about the deep-down places of their hearts and lives. I needed to be encouraged and know that I was not alone.

I still need that, every day. Do you?

When we’re real with others, it helps them feel more “normal” and encourages them to also open up their own hearts for others to see.

In my life, as much as I can, I want to glorify Him. So, I write because I’m led to. Because I am blessed daily by the hearts of so many other moms willing to be so transparent, it inspires me to do the same, to pass on the torch of a life clinging to Jesus, living and sharing the realness of it all.

My love of words is deep, especially the written kind. So, God is leading me more and more each day to honor Him with my words…both through writing and spoken words with my family and friends. God knows where I am weak and will be strong where I am not. I am so thankful for that.

My prayer is that He’ll use Devotional Family to bless and encourage you in your walk with God and that you’ll leave knowing you’re truly NOT alone. You are welcome here and I would love for you to visit again and again.

Sweet blessings to you,

P.S. Come back soon. We’re updating some of the pages around here and I can’t wait for you to meet my amazing husband and partner here at Devotional Family.
